Samajh ("we", "our", or "the app") is a study companion app for students in Class 10 (CBSE) in India, built around an AI Socratic tutor and curriculum-aligned practice. Our users are typically 15–16 years old, and are minors under Indian law. We collect the minimum data needed to run the app and we do not use advertising or behavioural tracking.
Account information: Your name and email address, collected when you sign up through Google Sign-In or email/password registration via Firebase Authentication.
Profile information: Your class (10), board (CBSE), and language preference (English/Hindi), used to provide curriculum-aligned content.
Parental-consent information: A record that a parent or guardian has consented to the account, and (optionally) a parent/guardian email address you provide at sign-up, used to contact your guardian about consent and important account matters.
Learning progress: The chapters and concepts you visit, quiz scores, active days, and mastery progress. This is stored on your device and synced to your account in Google Firebase Firestore (cloud) so your progress stays consistent across your devices.
Chat messages: Questions you ask the AI tutor are sent to our backend for processing. We do not permanently store conversation content on our servers; messages exist only for the duration of the session.
Device information: IP address (used only for rate limiting and daily question limits), device type, and app version.
Any usage analytics we keep are first-party (collected and stored by us in our own systems) and are used only to operate and improve the app.
We rely on the following service providers, each of which processes data only to provide their service to us:
Your profile and learning progress are stored on your device and in Google Firebase Firestore, protected by Firebase's industry-standard encryption and by access rules that restrict each account's data to that signed-in user. Our backend does not maintain a database of your conversations.
Samajh is intended for Class 10 students, who are typically 15–16 years old and are minors under Indian law. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Because our users are minors, we deliberately minimise data collection, run no advertising, and perform no behavioural tracking or profiling. At sign-up we ask the user to confirm that a parent or guardian consents to the account and to our collection of learning data as described in this policy, and we invite a parent/guardian email so guardians can stay informed. Where required by India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, processing of a child's personal data is carried out on the basis of parental/guardian consent. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete their child's data.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. In the app, go to Settings → Delete account, which opens a pre-filled email to us; or email us directly at samajh.tutor5@gmail.com from your registered email. We permanently delete your Firebase Authentication record and your Firestore data (profile, progress, and parental-consent records) within 7 days of the request, and email you to confirm. Local progress can also be cleared at any time by clearing the app's data on your device.
You (or your parent/guardian) have the right to:
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
